The colour
The most sought-after diamonds are those that have no color
(D). From the letter D to the letter Z, a whole range of shades exists,
ranging from light yellow to brown or gray. The color of a diamond is
linked to the presence of elements such as nitrogen for example. Graduation
is extremely subtle and the assessment of the many nuances is done
in laboratories by no means by the eye, even that of an expert. He
is recommended to choose a diamond whose color is
symbolized by the letter K. Shades of pink, blue, green, amber, or
even red also exist. These so-called "fancy" shades can
be considered as "accidents" which make these diamonds very
rare highly sought after pieces. Their evaluation focuses on the intensity
and the saturation of the hue. Their price can reach thousands of
dollars, even for stones less than one carat!
